Cosplay/Masquerade
Cosplay (from the words "costume" and "role play") is a Japanese subculture centered on dressing up as characters from manga, anime, video games, live action television shows, films, and even Japanese music bands. In some places "cosplay" has expanded to simply mean, wearing any sort of costume. It's common for like-minded people to gather at conventions such as Ohayocon to see others' costumes, show off their own elaborate handmade creations, take pictures, and participate in costume competitions.
